Burning Man is happening right now. I’m sad not to be there. It is an experience I’d recommend to anyone. The physical and symbolic center of the event is this huge wooden effigy of a man (photo by channel4.com):

To culminate the event, the man is burned on the second to last night of the week-long extravaganza. It’s a big deal, bringing together the thousands of people that attend Burning Man. Well, this year, some dude set the man on fire early, totally burning it down. I’m sure there are a lot of angry people out in the desert right now, and rightfully so. But, still, I have to laugh.
